Question by : How do you start composing music? I am 14 years old and I am interested in composing classical music. I know a decent amount of piano, and have a very good grasp of music theory and notation. Where would be a good place to start composing music?

Question by IndieLover: What type of music is expected to be played at 18th birthday parties? I am a DJ but feel uncertain whether or not I can do 18th birthday parties because I don’t know what type of music they would expect:
A) Mainstream Top 40 hits (which I am capable of, as long as I frequently listen to Kiss 100 and the chart show).
B) Underground dance music that didn’t enter a mainstream chart (which I am not capable of cos you only hear that stuff in clubs and I am under age).

I have a strong knowledge of music theory and have been composing for years. How can I make money from my music compositions? Do solo instruments generally generate more profit than ensemble pieces?
